I was able to try the Agape Nutrition Bars and all I can say is ummm, ummm good! I have never tasted anything like these bars. I will not be trying any other bars, because there is no need. Agape Nutrition Bars are truly one of a kind.
My first bite of Blueberry Ginger was an amazing experience. This bar tasted so pure, clean and of course, as the name implies (Agape), full of love. I ate it slowly because I wanted to savor every bite. I didn’t have to worry about biting into something that wasn’t suppose to be there.
Secondly, I tried the Cranberry Orange. One thing I noticed when I opened the bar, was the smell of orange. Now, who doesn’t love the smell of orange. All I can say is that this bar was love at first bite. I have never tasted a raw bar so good.
I asked my husband to taste the Cranberry Orange. The first thing he said was, “Can you buy these in the store?” I told him, I didn’t know, but I do know we can order them online. My husband said, you need to order some of these, because this is really good. I’m going to win him over yet, to my way of eating. One step at a time.
Once you taste these raw food nutrition bars, you will never look at the other bars the same.
Agape Nutrition Bars can be purchased online and they come in three Agape flavors: apple cobbler, cranberry orange, and blueberry ginger. The Agape Nutrition Bars are handmade by Chef Carolyn Akens, uncooked, with no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives.

At 10 o’clock this morning the postman came with a delivery I had been anticipating for the past week. I knew what was inside so it didn’t take me a minute to rip open the parcel box and dive into my first ever Agape nutrition bar, made by my friend the Master Raw Food Chef, Carolyn Akens. Now if you’re familiar with the word ‘agape’, you’ll know that it is a Greek word for “love” and so when I took the first bite of the Blueberry Ginger, I truly fell in love and for the five minutes that followed I left earth and entered heaven.
I had been expecting a small little snack, the kind that you get in the health food stores that only last a minute and leave you wanting more, but surprisingly I found the first bar was actually quite filling – but of course it wouldn’t have been fair to do a review after trying just one flavour so I had to go for all three!
The Apple Cobbler was even better – now this one would be perfect as an accompaniment to some raw ice cream – but the Cranberry Orange was on a level all by itself. I wouldn’t have thought to put cranberry and orange together but it works beautifully in this bar so it’s definitely my favourite of the three.
The Agape Nutrition Bars are perfect for breakfast on the go (maybe after a green smoothie at home) or as a healthy snack during the day. Better still, they’re 100% raw, 100% natural, a great source of fibre and full of goodness! You can even break them up into a bowl and pour some raw milk over it for a delicious breakfast – the options are endless!
Seriously, these bars are amazing and absolutely great to add to an enjoyable raw lifestyle. For those in the UK, they will certainly be at my next raw food class.
The only problem with these bars is that in a house of raw food lovers, sharing is not easy!!!!

Had to share with you about some wonderful treats I that had the opportunity to enjoy. I actually had the pleasure of meeting Carolyn Akens in person. Such a beautiful person.
The ingredients of her bars are all uncooked, unprocessed, and no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. Absolutely good for you and very tasty. Yummmm. They come in Cranberry Orange, Blueberry Ginger (loves that ginger) and Apple Cobbler flavors. All of which are so delicious. My fav bar is the Cranberry Orange. OMG!! When I opened the package, the scent took me back to the days of orange creamsicle’s. Even three days later, I could still smell the scent on the packaging. Even as I sit here and type this up I can still smell “orange creamsicle” on the packaging. And to answer the question that I’m sure is in your mind. Yes, I did. It smells soooooo delicious that I had to hold on to the packaging. Don’t judge me. Lol. I do love my citrus scents.

For my raw foodies, this is your bar! Like Prana and Boomi it’s a raw bar…but also made by hand with love from this wonderful woman Chef Carolyn. Seriously…food made by hand that is uncooked, moist, tasty and only 140 calories per bar…people I don’t know how it could get any better for your body or soul. Agape Nutrition Bars comes in three flavors, of which I have now happily taste tested all 3: Apple Cobbler, Blueberry Ginger, Cranberry Orange. These bars have been a staple on my quick flights lately to ensure I have a snack that just feels good in my body and fills me up with 5 grams of fiber and 6 grams of protein. Bars like this just get me excited reading the ingredient list and thinking, OMG I know all of those words and they are delicious!
I also just checked out Chef Carolyn’s weight loss system and I won’t lie…after tasting these I’m highly tempted to give it a go and see if it would help with these last few lbs and my running!! Any who if you are interested in your own taste of the bars, they sell $30 for 12 and yes they are decent sized bars, so the pricing seems comparable to what I am seeing from other nutrition companies like Amazing Grass.

A Raw Moment On The GO
As a busy nutritionist, I am in and out of my office and home several times daily. Eating properly can sometimes become a challenge. You see, I will not eat at most fast food establishment because, as far as I’m concerned, it is not worth the detrimental effects on my health which I would expect later in life. I am a low carbohydrate, high fruit, veggie-and- protein -girl. Sometimes, getting enough food throughout the day requires prep work the night before. With a hectic schedule, it is sometimes hard to have the veggies on hand for snacking throughout the day. I have tried countless protein bars and I have yet to find one that did not have sugar in it, among other unmentionable preservatives or synthetics. Sometimes I find it tough to have the right foods on hand that are portable and effortless to prepare.
Lately, I find my body and outlook changing. Perhaps this is due to entering my fourth decade on this planet. I put it out to the Universe that I was thinking about raw foods. Raw foods appears to be the last option to maintain healthy eating habits with such a busy life schedule, other than vegetarian or vegan. However, as blood type O, I don’t think either of the latter are options. And, I love my fish. I am confident however, that as these developments occur, my new perspectives will be evidenced in my writings.
The Universe gave me my answer; Carolyn Akens, Master Raw Food Chef (and Diva, as far as I am concerned). Her own personal story found her standing at the cross road between a life of illness or wellness after the passing of her brother due to obesity. Although I am tinkering with raw foods and have picked up a book or two, I am no where near the knowledge level of Carolyn.
I told Carolyn about my snack dilemma. Her answer; Agape Nutrition Bars TM. Carolyn created these as a healthy, nutritious snack or breakfast on the go. As I am always “on the go” I figured, why not.
I was a bit hesitant about trying the bars, as I have tried so many and I can tolerate so few. The hand-made, uncooked, and unprocessed bars sat in my fridge a couple of days before I could get the nerve up to try. In that familiar place with an over- booked schedule and little time to prepare food for the day. I grabbed a couple of bars, my water and lunch and was out the door.
By noon I was hungry and had 5 minutes before my next meeting. I ventured a taste with Blueberry Ginger as it could be a safe bet as blueberries are truly my favorite fruit. Wow! It was like biting into a blueberry patch-well ok a bunch of blueberries freshly picked. I was pleasantly surprised. I had to eat it so quickly there truly was not a moment’s time to savor the hint of ginger and the sweetness of raisin. What I did appreciate was the energy, protein and fiber from all raw organic ingredients of almonds, sunflower seeds, raisins, dates, flaxseed and hemp protein powder. One 68 g bar has 8g of usable fat, 5 g of fiber and 6 g of protein.
It was a Sunday morning, and to know me Sunday’s are all about my favorite nook, the Sunday paper and Teeccino. Feeling rather lazy, I grabbed the Apple Cobbler and ditched breakfast. When you think about it I am not truly ditching breakfast as theses bars are a complete meal supplying carbohydrates, protein, fats and fiber. Each bar has slightly different ingredients which presents the tastes to match the name. My breakfast treat of raw organic apples, raisins, walnuts, sunflower seeds, flaxseeds, dates, pumpkin seeds, cashews and hemp protein are high in protein and low in carbohydrates. Do you realize that each of these bars are a nutritional powerhouses waiting to be explored? And explore I did indeed.
Teeccino in one hand and Apple cobbler in the other I took my first bite. It is unimaginable that a bar can taste this amazing to actually bring up forgotten child hood memories. It was like biting in to one of my grandmother’s homemade apple pies. With each bite I swear I could smell my grandmother’s pie as if I were with her at this very moment. The wonderful aromas and perfectly added spices of cinnamon, nutmeg and pure vanilla extract left me wondering if I could seriously heat this up and add a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I was quite tempted to do just that but then that would defeat the purpose of raw.
The idea of raw foods is to keep the integrity of live enzymes and all vital nutrients viable for utilization by the body. Cooking and heating above 170f destroys enzymes that help you to break down foods for better nutrient absorption.

I am a Type I diabetic and a working personal chef. While I’m working, I often find that I don’t have the time to eat a full meal and struggle with low blood sugar. Also, when I’m out and about I find I have the same problem. I keep the Agape Bars with me at all times. I showed them to my endocrinologist and he approved them for me. I think they are by far, the best protein bars I’ve ever tasted! They are the only ones I’ve had that help maintain normal blood sugars too. I LOVE the cranberry orange.

Carolyn, I am SOOO impressed. From the moment I opened the bars I could tell I was in for a real treat. The sheer weight of the bars alone set me up immediately for something different from other bars out there — it’s so obvious they’re PACKED with goodness. The SCENT of these bars are out of this world — and got my taste buds rarin’ to go. But the real fireworks happened when I went in for the TASTE. Carolyn, I simply have not tasted another bar like this in my entire life. You have harnessed the flavors that WORK! Then, while happily munching away I saw the Nutrition Information and smiled: low in calories, but high in protein, healthy carbs, and fiber! Best of all, one bar satisfied my food craving and kept me satisfied for hours.

Dear Carolyn,
Honestly, I thought they were fantastic. I’ve been rather a fan of these type of nutrition bars (since they were a very convenient way of getting some sustenance that wasn’t trash when I was a harried law student), so I’ve tried quite a lot of them. I can safely say that I thought yours were far superior to any others that I’ve had. I thought they were very unique, flavorful, maintained their freshness well and were perfectly moist. I also really like being able to look at the ingredients and identify exactly what is in them, and I like the fact that you seem to share my nutritional values in making them.

Carolyn, I received my bars on Saturday, they are very light and wholesome, unlike the other bars. They are so delicious, and I will buy more!

I was looking for a healthy snack and a friend told me about Carolyn’s bars. We ordered some together and they are wonderful! I love the cranberry orange and the blueberry ginger! They are delicious and satisfy my hunger as a snack just when I need one! Thank you Carolyn! They can also be frozen so they will always be on hand.
